SpanishExpress and David Game College are partner institutions and collaborate in the development of Spanish Language courses for International Young Students.
SpanishExpress has carefully designed a Teen Programme to cover the demands of international students willing to succeed in a Spanish speaking country or for those wishing to brush up their Spanish skills in order to improve their career perspectives.
SpanishExpress was established in London in 2003 and has grown into a team of linguists, translators and professional tutors who have been involved in language teaching and training for many years. Our teaching methods place special emphasis on the development of language skills in the form of oral and written communication, while continuing to pay attention to the theoretical aspects of the Spanish language. We encourage our students not just to learn a language, but to use it confidently and appropriately in a variety of contexts.
David Game College, founded back in 1974 in London, is part of a diverse group of Colleges and educational establishments that offer courses within the UK and abroad. Within the UK, the individual Colleges of the Group all have some interdependence with each other and some students studying at one of our Colleges may do another part-time in extra curricular course at another College of the Group. The Colleges of the Group run a wide variety of courses, preparing students for public examinations (including HND, BA and Masters courses), as well as the Colleges' own Diplomas, including film, theatre, fashion design, business, law, photography and languages.

Overview and Key Facts
One of the great strengths of the English educational system is that it provides students with the opportunity to specialise in the subjects of their choice at AS and A Level. British universities prefer A Levels as they provide the depth required for UK degree courses. In nearly every other country, students have to go through a prolonged general education, and can only specialise when they go to university. A Levels enable students to receive the intellectual challenge and stimulation of studying fewer subjects in much greater depth before they go to university.
The A Level system works best when students have a wide range of subjects to choose from and when they can study any combination of subjects. Too many schools and colleges still require students to choose from columns of subjects to suit the timetable’s requirements rather than the student’s interests. At David Game College there is an exceptionally interesting selection of subjects which can be taken in any combination.
AS and A Level subjects offered at David Game College
At David Game College we offer a wide and interesting range of subjects to choose from. This enables students to study courses that match their interests and strengths and also gives them an opportunity to consider others that they might not have thought of before.
Duration of Course
Students who have just completed the Spanish GCSE, IGCSE or overseas equivalent would normally enrol for the 2 year A Level course. In the first term, students are taught the language and basic terminology of the subjects studied and are given much help in bridging the considerable gap which still exists between GCSE and AS Level. The remainder of the first year is spent on covering the three units of the AS Level, which are taken in May/June. The A2 units are studied during the second year, when students are given the opportunity to improve the marks obtained in the AS units where appropriate.
If you have taken your AS Levels elsewhere and need to retake them, there are two possible courses of action. You may come to David Game College and follow the 2 year A Level course described above; alternatively, it may be more appropriate – in the light of the AS marks obtained at your previous school or College – to enrol for our 1 year A Level intensive course. In this course we cover every topic across the six units of the subject, but with most of the time devoted to the more demanding A2 units.
Some students may have been highly successful in their AS units at other schools or Colleges, but nevertheless feel the need for a change of approach, or a more stimulating, invigorating environment in which the expectations of the teachers and students are that much higher. Students in this position should apply to join our A2 course, in which they will join students who have already (and successfully) completed their AS Level studies here.
If you have completed your A Level course at another school or College and need to raise your grades, you should enrol for our 1 year A Level intensive course as already described.

PRIVATE TUITION
Introduction
Although most students come to the College to join scheduled courses, we can also offer private tuition for those who cannot fit into existing schedules or who need extra tuition or who want subjects beyond our normal list.
The Advantages of Private Tuition
-
If students have missed classes through illness or for family reasons, they can cover lost ground quickly and effectively in a one to one situation.
-
The informal nature of private tuition allows a student to express ideas freely and confidently, with a tutor’s undivided attention, and allows a tutor to deal directly with any problems that may arise.
-
Private tuition is extremely flexible as a teaching method. It enables students to work at their own pace. More able students can get through a lot of material quickly without the problem of having to wait for others to catch up before the class can move on. Less able students are able to cover topics they find difficult until they are thoroughly understood.
-
Private tuition encourages an active involvement in the learning process and students have to take direct responsibility for the development of understanding.
-
Private tuition enables students to take a course outside normal teaching hours, such as at weekends and during holiday periods.
-
A great advantage of private tuition is that students can have the benefit of a specialised tutor in a specific field of study and gain in-depth knowledge that would not be possible in a class situation. This might be of particular interest to mature students.
-
Private tuition can also be supplementary to timetabled lessons and act as a valuable boost in areas where students require more in-depth help.
Cost
Private tuition is usually charged by the hour. Students should contact the College office for up to date information on availability of tutors and fees.
