Information about your course
1. When do the next courses start?
Please visit our dates and times page for a complete list of our courses.
2. What will I learn during my course?
Our Course Outlines give an overview of the content and learning framework of our courses and include topics, grammar and vocabulary you can typically expect to cover.
Please note that these are intended as a guide only. Our teachers may adapt the course content to suit the specific level, aims and interests of the group.
3. How does Spanish Express choose their teachers?
All our teachers are native Spanish speakers, either from Spain or Latin-American countries. All of them have a degree and are qualified and experienced in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. They have all completed training courses or hold a Masters degree in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
4. Do teachers speak English during the lessons?
We believe that the most effective way to learn or improve your language skills is through complete immersion in the language, therefore our teachers try not to speak English in class. However, the occasional explanation or vocabulary term may be explained in English, and teachers are very used to teaching students who may have little or no prior knowledge of Spanish.
5. Do I receive a qualification or certificate?
Yes, you receive a certificate of participation by email. This confirms course type and level you have taken.
Please note that in order to get your certificate, you must complete the end of course questionnaire sent to you at the end of the course.
6. How much homework is typically involved?
For the evening courses you will be given approximately one hour’s worth of formal homework per week. In the case of Private tuition, the amount of homework will vary depending on individual needs. In any event we recommend that you spend some more time during the week revising what you have learnt in class.
7. Does Spanish Express provide a book?
In most cases, you will need a course book to accompany your course; however in some courses we give handouts. Course books and handouts are included in the course fees, and will be given to you on your first day.
Please note that a course book often covers more than one level. So if you progress to the next course, you may use the same book.
8. What should I do if my class is too easy or too difficult for me?
Please speak to your teacher after the first lesson and contact us. We will assess the situation and look to move you to a class more suited to your ability, subject to availability.
9. What do I do if I am going to miss a lesson during the course?
We recommend that you tell your teacher as soon as you know that you are going to miss a class. Your teacher can then email you with an outline of what was covered in the class you missed, along with any homework set and what part of the textbook was used.
10. I like my teacher and classmates, can I continue with them next term?
Please do tell your teacher if you would like to continue with them in the next term and we will do our best to assign them to your next level. We cannot guarantee that your teacher will be available though, as it does depend on their availability.
11. What if my teacher is ill during the course?
If your teacher is ill during the term we will organise a cover teacher to take your lesson. If no cover teacher is available we will reschedule the lesson to take place on a different day.
