SIELE is the Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española (International Spanish Language Evaluation Service). Therefore, the SIELE exam electronically certifies the command of the Spanish language for students and professionals.
It is promoted by the Instituto Cervantes, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the University of Salamanca and the University of Buenos Aires.
These institutions guarantee quality standards and best practices in the creation of the tests and the use of the different linguistic varieties from the Hispanic world.
SIELE certifies the degree of proficiency in the Spanish language with four tests:
- Reading comprehension
- Reading comprehension
- Written expression and interaction
- Oral expression and interaction
6 types of SIELE exams
SIELE offers you up to 6 types of exams (SIELE Global, S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5) adapted to your certification needs. Choose yours and get your Spanish certificate valid for five years!
There are 2 ways to sit these exams:
SIELE Global
This is a complete exam that certifies your level of Spanish to employers and education faculties.

SIELE Independent Modules
As the name suggests, this modality allows you to take combined exams in specific Spanish skills.
You can see it in more detail below.
For both the SIELE Global and the SIELE Independent Modules you will receive, within a maximum of three weeks, an email with a link that will allow you to access your account at https://siele.org/ to view the results and download a certificate or a report, depending on the modality chosen.
Programmes at Spanish Express
Spanish Express is one of seven accredited SIELE test centres in the UK.
You can sit the exam at our London centre or sit the exam remotely, and prepare for it with us by enrolling in one of our 4 private tuition programmes:
Monthly
You can choose how many hours of tuition you want per week. The times and dates are agreed between the student and the teacher. However, once a time slot has been agreed, lessons must take place on the same day and at the same time each week.
Fees start from £40 per hour.
Pay as you go
You can book the lesson time you need, when you need it, without committing to a weekly time slot. Times and dates are agreed between student and teacher and can be flexible.
Fees start from £50 per hour.
Exam Preparation Course (4 hours)
We work for 1 hour on each of the following: writing, listening, speaking and reading. This programme is ideal for students who have already taken a SIELE course and need a final refresher a few days before the exam. The times and dates are agreed between the student and the teacher. They must take place within a maximum of two weeks and be completed at least 72 hours before the exam.
The fee for this course is £190.
Spanish Homestay Immersion Programme (SHIP)
You can make the most of your immersion stay and prepare for and take the SIELE exam while staying with us in Spain – what better way to round off your educational holiday than with an official Spanish language qualification!
The price of the basic programme is £1200.
